Hamish arrived, sleepy and late, but Xander realized as he came into the apartment they needed to work together to get Pippa to move in with one or the other of them. Period.

She was exposed—too exposed—in her townhouse. Even if those assholes in her family weren’t involved, the ability to get at her, the person dating a celebrity, was far too easy.

“Hallo, my loves,” he said after dropping his bag and coat off and coming to sit on Pippa’s other side. He kissed her. “I’m so glad I broke away. This is exactly what I needed.”

Xander leaned over her to receive his own kiss. “I’m glad you did too. Now Pippa can tell you about the call from the reporter.”

Pippa sat up, back stiff as she glared at Xander. “You should have let me tell him tomorrow. After he got some rest. There was no reason to do that tonight.”

Goddamn she was hot when she was pissed off.

Still. “There’s every reason,” Xander said.

“Why don’t you tell me what is going on and then we can talk afterward about the whens and whys of the telling?” Hamish interrupted.

Pippa huffed a breath and then told Hamish about the call.

“And so, I suggested she stay here or with you for the next while because she’s safer that way,” Xander said once she’d finished.

“I think he’s right, love,” Hamish said to Pippa, taking her hand and kissing her wrist. “You have keys to both our places. You can come and go as you want. Have people over. Be at home and also safe. That whatsits on your windscreen has had me rather cross all day. I’d been planning on proposing the same thing Xander did.”

“I’m not helpless.” She remained very stiff.

“We don’t think you are. But they know exactly where you live.” Hamish wanted to say more, Xander could see it on his face, but he didn’t.

Xander told them about some of the things Miles had said earlier about expecting more media attention. “I know from experience whenever any of us gets a lot of publicity for one reason or another, it spills over to the rest. We have to kick people out of the shop regularly because of the connection to my mom and uncle. Any gossip news that floats in always makes it worse for a while until it dies back.”

“Has it been worse since Halloween?” Hamish asked.

Xander said, “Yes. But I don’t want you to feel guilty, so get that look off your face. It was already getting out that the three of us were a thing. My point is we need to be real here. Pippa, you and I are with a famous person. I’m the son of famous people. I’m related to multiple other famous people. We need to think about how exposed we are, and how secure our homes and jobs are. That comes with the territory, and as you’ve admitted you love us both, it’s not like we aren’t having this relationship. So.”

Hamish said, “Twisted Steel is safe because access to the shop floor is limited.
